What is an epic poem?
Definition: A long serious poetic narrative about a significant event usually involving a hero.

Two examples of epic poems are Iliad and Odyssey both made by the poet Homer. Homer was born around 8/9th century B.C. His fathers name was Epikaste and homers ancestry can be traced from Odyssey. Some of the poems he wrote were The Odyssey and the Iliad. His nationality was Greek, his religion is polytheism and Homers Composition of oral poetry as a travelling performer, conducting a school for Rhapsodes, the Homeridae, on Chios. Homer wrote the Iliad in his youth as he wrote in the Odyssey as he aged.
